I'll go with the assumption you can find one of the old clock motors, it is still in good shape and it is PM. Gee, this thing might be as large as 5 watts in power! And also on the deep- and favorable end it one is trying to make this work, we will say the motor is a 1200 RPM motor. This means the gearing to make a one second sweep hand do 1 RPM is 1200/1.
BUT IT IS FREE! And, we've stripped it from it's little case, we have made a small propeller because the ones at the hobby store are either the wrong direction or wrong pitch, we made a case, wired it up, made a mast(tower), bought rectifiers and now (when the wind blows) we can produce ~15-20 Miliamps!
If one cared to go to http://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?UID=2003101907530949&item=10-1430&catname=electric
They might find a -12 VDC 475 RPM MOTOR- for $6 that would probably produce a lot more power for a lot less hassle.
Your milage may vary - but as long as you're having fun, go for it.
