Looks nice.  While building my first one, I have a few sketches of a dual rotor machine too.  I was planning to make the stator out of fiberglass resin with the coils imbedded in it similar to the Piggott example.  I'm going to use 1/8" plate steel for the magnet disks too.  In mine though, due to the strength of the magnetic field, I was going to have two layers of coils - in essence, making it a 2 phase machine.  I figured that what I'd be losing from the second layer of coils being so far from the magnets on the furthest of the two rotors, would be compensated for in the fact that the magnets on either side would amplify the field to a higher strength than a single rotor with laminates would.  Maybe I'm off in that assumption though  :)

Having double the magnets at double the cost sort of bugged me too, so I figured a second layer of coils could offset and fill in the holes of the first layer's coils.  :)
