  You should be able to make it a little bit
wider and thicker near the root of the blade...
got any picture or a sketch of the blades shape?
or at least dimensions of the blades?
  I wouldn't recommend plywood ...even marine
plywood ...laminate some real good grades of wood
....ah ah NO! Leave that particle board alone...
Drop it!....and Step Away !
