oh, you can bet that it exploded. <G>  
 that's the whole point-- while the outer part of the 'can' is expanding away from its original position, some of the internal material is actually 'imploding'. the resulting pressure gradient in the plasma and its interaction with the magnetic field generated by that huge current then leads to the big pressures that they're claiming. . . . and for a few attoseconds, life gets really interesting for atoms in the center of this machine.

that's why the NTS exists. it provides a place for people to fiddle with things that go 'bang' without annoying the nieghbors.

further I will not speculate. . . <G>
