I am definitely looking for something proven since I will be using this on an RV once completed. I was just wondering if anyone sees any blatant flaws in my setup. Or could give me opinions to go with the 24 vs 12 pole designs. I believe that the 24 pole design would give me a lower cutin speed, and that is exactly what I am looking for, seeing that I will be using a VAWT. I havent seen any designs on this board that uses these small magnets, so any suggestions will be welcomed.

I was thinking of winding my coils using a single piece of wire, instead of having to solder coils together like this story: link Wondering if anyone sees any problems with that setup, and why most choose to solder the individual coils?

Gary is right,

With a motor conversion this kind of magnets is almost perfect. I've recently been given some like yours (1/2" x 1/4" round N40) ones that will be used in a 130W motor conversion. Zubbly has used such magnets for much bigger gennies too.

BTW, I need 48 magnets in my conversion...

Conversions should give you more power per volume-unit of magnetic material. But they're quite different to build, as compared to the usual axial flux gennies. Plus you'd need to have machining capability (turning, milling) to convert one.

If you can do this, you might look into a conversion. Zubbly is the master of that trade, check out his stories.

You could also check out my IRC gallery (see header of this reply) to see some of my half-finished conversions.
