I like the bikes for a good work out I've been tring to work with a 1 hr 30min morning and 30 min evening to work around nowind no sun and down times to keep the main off ..Right now with my current setup it's like 1.5 hour into 1000 amp hr bank . No real problem ( too many late night meals and morning biscuits) I'll try a miro v belt .I've got a bunch of delcos with no regulator I'm going to check out .Keep posting.

try a treadmill motor hooked up to a exersize bike-should be good for a easy 100watts.
150w if your really jacked up..my 2.5hp treadmill works great on my test bed--even the 1.5 hp treadmill motor works great i can hit 10-15amps with that- 5amps for a easy charge-- made one for my motorhome--i just toss it in the back--saved my ass a few times when i left the water pump on or the furnace blower motor on to long[long winter nights] ..i replace the heavy flywheel on the exersize bikes with a bike rim--makes for a more mobile unit-and a flat belt fits right in there..
i to- really do need another hobby--this one is hard to break away from..

that car alt was fun to mess with--but a treadmill motor is a lot easyer to hook up..
in the end -the 2.5hp treadmill motor put out about the same amout of power as the car alt--with the pully i was using on the car alt--i supose i could get more power from the car alt using a bigger pully and using a batt to momenterly charge the field--
thats another test......................................it never ends.
