Many thanks.
The local agent will take it in for repair but i know will replace board cost $575 this plus frieght will mean its not worth fixing.
It I feel is a small fault that can be fixed if I can track it down. The agent is quite correct to replace he has to warrent his work.

The length of time that the inverter can operate at high power is limited by temperature - sounds like the logic itself has has failed to the safest mode possible. Not really a subsystem you want to bypass or accidentally damage further. Tracing out the thermistors and finding the logic circuit that is latched usually requires complete schematics and Trace/Xantrex have never released any of their circuits.
