Don't take this the wrong way, but you have fifteen thousand dollars invested in solar panels there. Perhaps you might spend a few bucks hiring a local expert rather than heeding random free advice gleaned from the internet.

A 2.5KW array is nothing to sneeze at. I'm as cheap as they come but I hired a local expert to hook up my first 700W array. Luckilly, he let me look over his shoulder and "help" some, so I now have a better understanding of this stuff.

Hi,

Thanks for your advise, but this is the way he suggested, the first configuration, he had no idea about the second one, but I remember seeing that way back in a power magazine.
I further preferred to reconfirm it.

I may end up here with some interesting options, and, nevertheless, there are members on this board who take renewable enrgy as a hobby, like myself, and are way more knowledgeable than those 9-5 experts. But again, all are not the same. Just my opinion.

Thanks.

David;

I agree, it never hurts to get second, third or even 4th opinions on things.

I spent most of my career in technology fields and it is a bit odd how even true "experts" hold improper or wrong ideas. [myself included].

I also agree with VF [its scary, I know] that, with that kind of value in a system you want the best possible professional advice.

I only have a 300 watt array, a couple turbines, an Outback 2.5KW inverter and 900 AH of batteries at 24 volts. I hooked them all up myself. I "did" electronics for decades before i got retired on medical so I understand electricity fairly well. I have read pretty much everything that has gone through this site since it started, so that helped filter out the not so good ideas.

Good luck with it.
