three cheers for blueyonder for having horse sense. and i usually convert bitmaps to .gif format it is done the exact same way you converted that one except you select .gif instead of .jpg convention says .gif for drawings .jpeg for pictures.

That image is only 44KB. Converting it to a .gif of the same quality brings it down to about 25KB - not quite in half, but pretty close. A low quality .gif version would probably be fine and be smaller still.

You might want to check out Easily resize images for this site and Resizing Photos Made Easy too. For future reference. :)
