Buy a 20" LCD TV, 40W. I have a single 12V 75aH battery that runs my 14W light and 40W LCD HDTV for days on end.

Being single makes conservation so much easier.

Amazingly our current Sony Triniton (CRT) only uses ~60W, so getting an LCD which uses much less is harder than I had assumed!

But I don't watch TV at all, so that's no part of my usage... B^>

My Sony 32" Trinitron also only drew 60-65 watts.
My daus gave me a new 40" LCD For Father's Day last year that uses at least twice that much power. I wish that I had my old Sony back some times but with HD coming in next February, guess its for the best

Do you find that adjusting the screen brightness (or any of the other controls other than the OFF switch) makes any noticable difference to consumption?

I have a 32 inch Element that has adjustable energy rating, i monitored the watts and it goes from 70W to 100W depending on the brightness.

I also have 19" LCD screens that are 45W. Amazing, huh? Less than a light bulb.
