Thanks guys for all the feed back!  As I mentioned the cog question was a result of my reading, learning, and attempting to understand b4 I construct.  I now understand cogging is not an issue for this design and I'll be going with a standard 3 phase build.  Also someone asked for a link to what I'm building.  Here it is http://www.otherpower.com/trips1.html

I'll certainly share the experience as the build progresses.  I turned the rotors and cut a grove for the magnets to rest against last night.  Now that I don't have to worry about cogging I'll build the coils tonight. With some luck I be able to test drive the generator on my lathe next weekend.  I post wave forms and voltages then.
