I don't know if this is the proper place to write this. I am not discouraged.
I have just decided that the first stator casting was a total failure. We followed the directions that came with the hardener, roughly 1/4 OZ to 48 OZ but the resin wasn't hard the next morning. Parts of it were hard, which was probably worse that none being hardened. On the recommendation of my brother I used petroleum jelly we had used as mold release on other projects in the past.
I know the first time is a bitch with many processes.
Both my brother and I have used resins in the past. Anyway we are back to square one. At the OtherPower workshop we used what looked like polystyrene mold. Not that this would help with poor harding due to mixing problems.
The bottom line is we ordered 1 gallon of resin, five pounds of filler, I have a feeling I will need more to get the hang of resin casting.
We cast the mold in front of the biodiesel shed, with my brother and father in attendance.
We put a lot of effort into the layout but it never seemed right anyway

If its not too late, I would give it more time. If its outside/cold - sometimes it takes more than 1 day for the resin to cure.

Thanks Dan, but it has been three days now I can't get it apart at all. When it was finally hard on the outside it had separated in the center. Going to scrap it and make a new mold and start over this weekend.

- I was tempted not to reply at all to your comment. Your initial comment totally answered one of the original questions but the rest of it would be better off in a new posting.
