Well if you do any research, just quick looks, you will get confused very quickly.

My first search into wind power found similar turbines ranging from several $1000 to a couple $100.

You have to ask yourself why that is? How can some be $5000 and others be $500?

The problem is, turbines seem like they should be really cheap and efficient. When you see a 1000W turbine for $10,000 you ask why???  The parts are like the parts in a bike, right? A bike is cheap. Shouldn't a turbine be cheap?

It would be good if fraudsters were eliminated to be sure. But in a way it does pull a lot of interest from people who want power for cheap.
