Well thank you everyone that has helped me. I will clean out the old black sealer, and find some high quality uv sealent, and try that. The link to those panels always killed a little part inside me every time I saw them. I always thought to myself I'll make sure my panels are safe all the time, then it happens when you least expect it. Everyone learn from me never leave your panels alone even for a second.

Most of the poly caulks available for retail are meant for masonry and have a high silica content and so end up being textured or slightly granular and not so good for glass to metal sealing.

Sikaflex 221 or Tremco/Vulkem 636 are smooth textured high solvent polyurethanes good for sealing metal to metal and glass to metal. Alcoa gutterseal is a thin flash drying sealant meant for filling very small gaps in trim and sheet lap joints and takes some skill to apply. Same goes for ParBond.

Good luck finding the 636 locally - and the Sikaflex last time I saw it was $18 a tube.
