Has anyone experimented with the chirper/howler to see if maybe some resistors could be put inline to eat the extra power?

The supply to the chirper is likely miniscule.
Maybe 5 or 7ma?  Much more than that would(?) smoke the supply.

I saw one that was linear (monkey wrench).  More voltage was more noise.

About no 2 are the same.  Another monkey wrench to any kind of a published retro-fit plan.
