The way I did it was just to disconnect one of the battery lugs .. then I could power stuff directly from the wind without having to worry about overvoltage .. fun connecting my 12v fluorescent light .. when there was enough wind I had my 11w fluorescent light, 20w halogen desklamp on and the dumpload was churning ::D
