This is a difficult problem.
Ventilation is just a half solution,if it's very hot you probably want keep a some cooler t° in the house then outside.The problem is that warm air that's coming in and cooled down a bit will get more humid,and if your climate is warm and humid this can be a real problem as is your case.
Apart electric deshumidificators,the only solution I can see is moist atractive and absorbant materials that you eventually dry in the sun.Salt is a material that attracts moisture(you must have remarqued this).Cat litter is a good abbsorbant.Maybe you have to mix the two to make a 'deshumidificator'(this is just an idea that I didn't test myself).
Anyway,here in Europe you can buy cristals(marque 'Rubson') that do the job,I don't know the composition,but it's quite effective.Probably you need this kind of deshumidificator in several places in your house.
