Yes. It can be tricky to paste program code into a text-oriented system like this one. The system tries to make it look pretty, which may spoil the functioning of the program. Also, things may be wrongly interpreted as commands. For example, in SunAlign I have a variable called TZN (time zone). Some systems take TZN to be a command to switch to italic font, so weird things happen when the program is listed.

If anyone wants a "fresh" copy of the BASIC code for SunAlign, I'll e-mail it to them. Just write to me at:

I got the last version posted by bills to run on the MacBook I couldn't get the first perl script post to work anywhere but didn't try to debug it far.

Tom, any others, the first version I posted, I posted incorrectly and the backslashes and some other symbols got filtered out. Please only use the second Perl version posted.

I took a hard look at the BASIC versions of SunAlign above. The QBasic version has weird italic in it, but that may not stop it from working. The generic-BASIC version has somehow acquired a period after every line number. I don't know why the system decided to do that. Unless the periods are removed, the code probably won't work. If you'd like me to send you a copy without any corruptions, just send me an e-mail.
