The night losses are significant. I had no idea the Egyptians could make ice with such a setup. However, I do understand that my 10 inch Meade SCT telescope takes about 2 hours to "cool down". The internal mirror does become much cooler than the outside air. I will measure the temp of the mirror at it's coolest. That should be interesting.

In any case, my neighbors system drops to 90F on some mornings. 115F is the highest he has seen the morning temps. I suppose it depends on daily use.

It would be OK to make a cover. I could use it when I want.

Thank you for the suggestions of an alternative solution that I had not considered.

Still, I am going to go with a batch tank. It works very well for my neighbor. It should work just as well for me. As long as I can find a 60 gallon tank!

   cujet
 Check at commercial laundry's. Some of them use 120 gal.hot water heaters. You may get a lead on a sound used tank.
