Hey Vawtman,
     Wood burning is something you simply HAVE to have especially now with whats happening to fuels.  Many more people now are demanding to burn fire wood.
Something similar happened to my father a year ago. They wanted to greatly raise his rates for having a wood burning stove in the new house. (even according to code)

He decided to look around with other companies and got an even better rate from AIG insurance than he was paying in the first place! You might want to check them out. They didn't even inspect. But it can't be a 'homemade' stove. If it is, just say it's name is "Franklin". (secret nick name)

Hmmm it is homebrew i made it from 3/16 steel.It's built better than any ul listed stove in my opnion.
 But without the stamp i may be screwed.

I was really joking. My father had made an excellent 1/4" thick steel stove that worked better than any UL approved like yours does, but the insurance co. made him take it out also.
If the house burned down they would not pay then. They would love to find any reason to weasel out of paying. It does stink that it is that way. Best to follow their rigid rules in case.
