There are several new sections of general interest, but most of the book is very specific to the stages of construction, and has dimensions for each size of turbine tabulated alongside diagrams and text. At the back you can find a set of basic drawings of the four main types of head for the turbines.
This book is all metric (dimensions in mm) but I hope to have an `English' version available net year 2009 with dimensions in inches, and using the 2" x 1" x ½" magnet blocks that are common in North America.
Meantime, metric is the most usefyl for the courses I reach in 2008. I am off to France to teach one next week. There are still places free see my web page. After that it's Ireland, and Wales, and down to Nicaragua. Next year I will do inches, I promise.Hugh Piggott http://www.scoraigwind.co.uk
pretty soon i will be building a tower for my milll. yes i am working it all out in yards. its a ill wind that dos no good[ Parent ]
I still talk about 4 by 2 timber (I think its called 2 by 4 over there) but when we get under a quarter inch its a lot lot easier to use metric. And it also works all over the world.
Anyway nothing personal I just wanted to get my book in print - most of my courses this year are in Europe - and adding inches to it would have taken a lot longer. It's coming and you can pay an extra $5 for it if you wish. In fact please do. Much appreciated. It will be well worth every penny.

also i found a chart for metric cable sq mm. that is sumthing i dont understand . but the first chart ive seen as to how it works. i will gain a lot of knowledge from this book. aswell as having a reference book at hand i will enjoy the good read. i have a digital caliper that i can go from imp" to metric. a very useful tool for the likes of me. with a choice of five mills to build from .very well done.
its laid out very good aswell .
only one regret . i should have asked for a singed copy . or would that be extra?.
i have bought many hard back books on other subjects. but this is a easy to understand and well thought out book. value for money .yes. so ten out of ten hugh. a happy wind gen builder cheers from john. its a ill wind that dos no good[ Parent ]
A couple guys over on IRC noticed and I confirmed that when we go to your http://www.scoraigwind.com/ website we get a password prompt to log in to "speakerfactory.net"?
Curious? Did you sell out to Selsam or something?
Just seemed odd so I Thought it was worth drifting off topic on this thread to inform you.
