Make sure your motor is rated for them. The chopping rate of the inverter can put standing wave spikes of over 2,000V on the line that can break down the motors wire insulation of older motors not rated for the expected voltage. This can happen when the line from the inverter to the motor is over 100 feet. I know one plant that had to replace every old motor within a year of installing inverters.
