That happened to me along time ago and I started using a Stainless steel sticky back from the tip down about 8-10 inches, it's never been a problem since.   We get lots of rain, hail, sleet and all the bad stuff for the blades so it's critical to use a leading edge protector.

The stainless tape can be purchased at any aircraft supply.   You can also purchase an automotive brand of the stuff from JC Whitney.  My last purchase was from them and the roll will do many blades.   I still have quite a bit left and have covered several sets of blades with the stuff.

It's easy to work with, can be cut with sizzors, sticks very well and forms quite easily.  I've used it on aircraft props as well as my turbines.

Can't live without it !   Lots of other applications for the stuff as well...

.

I use the stainless tape also and it's worth the price for sure. About 20" on the leading edge ends on my 16' and it looks sharp besides. Anyone who has had a machine up for a fair amount of time without any protection will no doubt see the wear next time it's inspected. Like Ed says, it's another thing I'd never do without.  Dave B.
