JW;
Probably just coincidence, but I'm seeing 3x more bogus member attempts, most everyday now.
Just killed 19 and all were within exact minutes of each other.
Can you have a look?

Hi Bruce,

Yes I can look into that. I tried something experimental(anti spam mod) on a another forum recently and the dam thing actually worked  :)

Give me a day or two to install this mod, I may have to get Matt to help install the mod, but I may get it to work without him.

i don't know about others, but i personally preferred the longer "recently posted" section.  it used to give a more clear view on what topics were hot ect.

just my thoughts.

Hi Adam,

The list was reduced because it causes less posting. Don't ask me why, but when the list is longer there is lest posting activity. Post counts are higher than usually today.

I noticed today this site doesn't have mobile phone optimization, there is a mod "SMF4Mobile Mod" im using it on another SMF forum that I have. I think you can even post pictures using a smart phone.

Im sure the Dans will approve my only problem is the tech support guy, he is on spring break and ive been trying to get other mods with my other site.

So I will check in back here after the mod is installed.

I noticed the up and down. It crashed once while I was reading a thread. Glad we're back up. Thanks for the work on upgrades.

We were not upgrading anything, service thru our host failed, this occurred without warning. We could not even access the cpanel.

were back up now but we are investigating, how to prevent this in the future...

Avoid any administration using phones and tablets running Android.  Too many compromised apps in the Google Play Store.  How Google doesn't crack down on it, I don't know, but it's rampant.  Seen heavily secured environment compromised over something as inoculous looking as a flashlight app.  Too many pseudo admins out there running servers.  I bunch offshore support in the same category, absolutely zero credibility for security.

And to think people run their businesses on Intuit software. :0

I want to apologize for the lost posts. We have been working very hard for the three past 3 days on this. I was told to put the forum in maintenance mode and I miss understood, this would have completely shut the forum down.

We did not realize this until it was too late, the process of making all this work and debugging the forum had to happen when the site was still up and running.

On the other side were done and should enjoy problem free operation of the forum.

Changing Hosts are never as simple as some may make it sound.
kind of like changing the oil in an engine.
a small engine you just shut it down for a few minutes, drain out and  refill.
a Really large engine you fill while draining until you have new oil in the engine it takes more oil and there is some new lost with the old as the process is done.It takes longer but the engine runs along never knowing what has been done.

I am formally resigning as Develop manager I no longer have keys to the server and in the event of a crash or broken feature I can not help.. I have put tons of money personally paid that Danf never did, didn't mind doing it but I am clearly blocked and insulted.

Do you remember about a month ago when DanF turned the forum upside down. He just did it and didn't tell any of us he was doing that. Luckily we were able to get things working again. There is a lot of this forum that is complex.

I cant be developer manager with this going on, Damon brought up the https thing so we started to look into it. There was a broken security mod that someone went behind my back and did. Aside from the https issue we found that we couldn't fix it without the server password and that's unusual. Im not about to ask for the new password.

Id rather resign...

Ahh!! Gotcha
I do remember that happening , and how screwed up things were.
It would be nice if there was a log trail to see who's up to what.

IF I had the $$$$ I'd offer the buy this forum , then remove most of the old Admins abilities until it was once again stable.

I'd hate to see this forum go belly up, just because of stupid people being stupider

Bruce rest assured that all the old admins and GM's accounts have been terminated. It just you Damon and Danf.

If you guys get into a situation email me and I will put you in contact with Flavio.

The only exception is Ghurd he is a GM

Ok were doing some work on the server, there are multiple errors and some modification conflicts. So its just as I suspected somebody was in the server screwing around.

Were working on the problems the site should not go down. Bear with us as we optimize the forum.
