Gould made nicads and lead acid. The lead acid division was bought out by Interstate.

What is the nominal voltage of those batteries? They almost look too clean inside to be lead acid. I had some nicads that were surplus telco batteries.
They looked like lead acid, but after checking the electrolyte I realized they were actually nicads.

Do you need to replace the plates. I installed a 24 Volt  900 amp hour BP solar set on my fathers wind turbine in 1999 in 2010 they were getting a bit poor so I washed them out and put fresh acid in them then gave them a good equalising charge, they performed like new after that.
