AC coupling powerjack
« on: January 28, 2016, 09:36:20 PM »
I have been reading up here but can't find the right set up for the following:

I have a 10,000 W powerjack and a battery bank of 200Ah/48 Volt and I have been using this as an UPS on an small fish culture system the last year (worked great so far).

Now I want to hook this up a grid-tie inverter with 2.5kW PV through AC copling, how can I avoid overcharging the batteries as my fixed load will be around 500W continuesly?

Also I want to use the UPS function to automatic charge the batteries at night off piek rate. I understand that the powerjack doesn't like to switch to the batteries while the generator switches on. Will this be solved if  I limit the rush in current from the batteries with a 20 ohm resistor  (10 X 2 ohm/10W serie) and a delay timer with relay to bypass these in 2 seconds?

Why don't you use the relay to disconnect the powerjack while the generator is on?
