old ski blades
« on: February 10, 2006, 04:09:18 AM »
my next blade project is with old snow skis.

mounted on corn binder hubs.

it will probably perform like a fan but that's o.k.

so here's my question.

tips up or down wind?

ya know the curved part...

My vote would be tips down wind. Probably wouldn't make much difference unless you plan on doing some grinding/shaping then the tip MAY act as a winglet and help capture some of the energy from the tip vortex.

My vote would be ( DOWNWIND ) When you finish your project and have to

transport it from the shop to the tower, you could simply lay it flat

and tow it across the snow. Or even ride it should your tower be downhill

Upwind so the boots don't hit the tower
