Can anyone recommend a system?
« on: January 22, 2008, 08:48:06 PM »
Hi

Here's a pic of my stream in the UK...

I've made a rough estimation of flow at between 200-300 litres per second.  This may drop during the summer (but not if we have summers like we've been having...:-) )

The head I can't be sure of yet but it's going to be somewhere between 1-2 metres.

Can any of you guys/gals suggest a system that might get the best power out of this?

So far I'm toggling between a low head system like the one's from powerpal and building a crossflow as in the otherpower site and hooking that up to a bought PMG.

What would be really really nice is some idea as to how much I can get out of the system and which design to go for...(not asking much, am I..)

Anyway, all the best.

Nick

Check out the Energy Systems and Design LH1000.  At 1 meter you should get about 200 watts with 40 l/s and at 2 meters it looks like about 550 watts and 57 l/s.  You could also put 2 of them in parallel (if you truly have 200 l/s) and shut one down during low flow periods if needed.  The latest edition of Home Power magazine has a whole article about the LH1000.
