2 questions on mismatched voltages.
« on: February 23, 2007, 10:46:06 AM »
#1:

I have a 12v inverter with an 110-120v AC output. However, I live in a country where the power source is 220-240AC. What would I need to do to run 220-240v appliances?

#2:

Is it possible to connect a 24v battery to a 12v inverter?

Your 2 rather unresearched questions  were combined for brevity.

You will need a 24vDC to 220-240AC.

Question #1

What you have, Is what you got. (12 volts DC in, 120 VAC out) Nothing will change that.

Question # 2

12 Vot DC in Only! any more than 12 volts in, will cause smoke to come out. no more inverter. Then you buy a (24 volt 220).

If the request does not try to hide the country of residence, many times, suggestions may appear that may help much better

The 12 DC volts/120 volts AC inverter can be used in a 220 volts AC area if you place a transformer 1:2 ratio to bring the voltage to 220 volts.

An auto transformer with the same watts that the inverter is capable, THOUGH it may be more economical to buy a 12 DC Volts/220 Volts AC out with the same operating frequency of the GRID.

You can not connect a 12 Vdc inverter to a 24 volts battery bank, the design does not allowed it, the system will blow out and "smoke and fire" damaging the inverter.
