Need a parts list for wind
« on: June 04, 2008, 04:10:35 PM »
I am about to gather the parts to build a wind generator.  I have a new idea for the fan that I wish to try out.  I am going to use a PM alternator (due to its high efficiency) and I want to tie in to the grid (batteries may come later).  Past the alternator, what do I need?  I know I must generate either 120 or 240, but I have no idea as to how to sync it up with my power company.  purchasing the parts is o.k., so is building them.

Thanks to anyone who answers.

First,

Study all of this site in its entirety.

Second

It is unlikely you will grid tie a home built PM alternator to the grid

without batteries feeding a grid tie inverter.

Third

A grid tie inverter is usually big bucks.

Fourth

Your power company will have to be involved and will have the requirements for you to tie to their network.

Fifth

This will not save you any money over current electric rates but will cost a bundle.
