Solar - series and Parallel calculations

Hello Folks,


I am doing a paper work design of a solar electric system so that I can learn everything from the bottom upwards.


A few days ago I purchased a single solar module to play with. The paper wrapping gave the cell data as 2 volts 200ma. I soldered on some connection wire to the pads provided at the rear of the cell and I then held it at arms length to get as near as I could to the sun (my humour). I then read the output on a volt meter. The reading was usually around 1.5 volts but every now and then would go up to 1.6 volts. Very educational!


The next step was to design an array of cells (using MS Word) to understand Series and Parallel.


I drew out 12 `squares' in Series and labelled each at 1.5 volts @ 200ma. According to my calculations this would theoretically produce 18 volts at 3.6 watts. Are my maths correct?


I next drew out another 12 squares in Parallel with the same spec 1.5 volts @200ma. According to my maths this returned 1.5volts at 3.6 watts. Correct?


The last drawing was a mix of 2 sets of Series (12 cells in each and rated at 1.5 volts @200ma) and both lots combined to form a Parallel circuit. According to my maths this returned 18 volts 7.2 watts. Is this figure correct?


Reassurance would be wonderful!
