Thought this would be good reading.

[Link to wannabe technology removed]

It is just not acceptable to post links to these type tech sites unless they have actual, working devices

There web site is www.avasolar.com

They seem to be behind in there expected initial production of the panels. Last year they where saying second quarter of 2008 for the big panels entering the market. But I'm still waiting.

When such a beast actually does arrive at £1/W ($2/W) retail-ish, then I shall have the entire east roof of my house covered with it grid-tie (maybe a little space left for some solar hot water).  Assuming we're still at our current property.

This time I'd need planning permission, and there is a little bit of shading especially in winter from a tall tree 20m away to the south east, but for those prices, and with a set-up to minimise the shading losses, it could be well worth it.  We might even have a feed-in tariff by then.

I remember reading an a article in an old issue of "Alternative Sources of Energy" by Don Marrier around 25 years ago which Don stated in so many words....You won't see $1.00/watt pv's until the last drop of oil is pulled out of the ground. I believe Don was correct.
