Hot tub heating
« on: April 08, 2009, 09:14:23 PM »
I know someone is heating there hot tub with thermal panels in the summer. I run a closed loop antifreeze system (Ohio) and I want to add it in-line some way. Maybe just a ball valve open in summer and closed in winter so I still heat my house water too. But how to control the temp. A flat plate exchanger will work but then how to control temp? Differential tied to some kind of electric valve? How are you doing it? Show me some pictures.

you could do it manually of course(:

One way would be you would have a taco pump running on the hot tub side of the plate exchanger hooked to a relay and a thermostat made for the water or does your hot tub already have a pump? then you would use a zone valve to bypass the exchanger when the thermostat was satisfied

You would find zone valves in the heating section they are used with radiators in the house
