Using compressed air to generate electricity
« on: March 16, 2006, 02:24:30 PM »
I've been wondering about the feasibility of generating a day or two worth of electricity from a compressed air cylinder, either from a welding supply place, a scuba place, or even a paintball place.

Active Power makes a power backup system that uses an off the self turbine alternator to generate power from compressed air.

Where could I find such an item?

And how would I calculate how much power is in a compressed air cylinder? I've tried various methods, but without knowing the cfm per kwh it doesn't mean much.
