End Charging voltage golf cart Batts
« on: August 01, 2005, 07:03:03 PM »
What is the max voltage I should charge a 6 volt golf cart batt to?

I have a 96 volt batt bank of 6 volt flooded lead acid bats. The charger says I should have a end voltage of 120 volts. that seems a little high to me.

What do ya think?

Thanks,

Geek

My Trojan Battery maintenance manual lists the following charger voltage settings for a 48V Flooded Battery system:

Daily Charge 57.6 - 59.2V

Float 52.8V

Equalize 62V

The 48V values are double the 24V settings( and 4 times the 12V), so just double them for your 96V system. It looks like the 120V is for an equalizing charge.

I concure withe the previous post,120v is very much in the ball park. If I had a charge controller for my 24V system I would set 28.7V as the float voltage, I use 31.5-32V as the equalising voltage.

Sandia National Laborities has done interesting reserch in this area, serch their site.
