WindH.O.G. - anybody have a picture?
« on: June 15, 2005, 12:50:59 AM »
I found a link to the Energy Transfer Corporation's site on another thread, alluding to  there being some pictures of the WindH.O.G. on that page, but there are no pictures of the actual turbine!

The description sounds very much like my own design (that many others have come up with before me), and I'd love to see their actual product. Does anybody here have any of the pictures of the WindH.O.G. that I presume were online in the past?

The closest thing to a picture is here:

The rest of the site seems to be a lot of text and generic statistics about energy usage.  Maybe I'm just being cynical but I think given the dimensions of 61 ft. diameter and 32ft. high this borders on the ridiculous.  Also, although they list a lot of advantages, they didn't mention needing about 50cu. yards of concrete to hold it down or that with 30,000 pounds of steel you could probably build a lot of things.

I don't mean to offend.  This just seems more like macro-scale engineering.  If you make a pinwheel large enough it'll produce meaningful energy at 220-440volts, 3 phae or DC also.

Sorry about the rant...
