Homebrew Wind Power book available for pre-order!
« on: August 31, 2008, 07:00:59 PM »
It sure took us long enough!

But our book "Homebrew Wind Power" is finally going to press. Over the course of the almost 3 years we've been working on it, the book has morphed from a short set of plans into a 320-page, 8x10 inch, softcover tome with 395 photos and CAD diagrams that covers wind power theory in detail, along with detailed and illustrated step-by-step plans and instructions for building a 10 foot turbine. We also include chapters about all the glorious turbine failures we've had over the years, and how to devise your own wind turbine design from scratch, match the blades to the alternator, and finally some detail about how to build our 7-foot and 17-foot designs.

You can check out the advance reviews and pre-order the book from us here:

http://www.otherpower.com/hbwp_preorder/

And also from Amazon.com here:

We'd like to thank everyone on this board for their insights and support for our book project! Learning from all of you has been just as valuable to us as learning from our own experiments.

I don't suppose you have some sort of affiliate program to encourage others to sell / promote your book ??

To answer some of the questions we've received with all the pre-orders (thanks so much!!!):

  • The book will be available for retail purchase through Forcefield's online store around November 1, AND through Amazon. So those of you who have had problems with Amazon (we understand your pain) don't need to get them there!
  • There will be a discount at Forcefield for multiple copy orders.
  • The book will be available from other renewable energy dealers online, magazine book catalogs (Mother Earth News, Back Home, etc.) but will be available at Forcefield FIRST.
  • Retailers can get multiple copies of the book for resale at standard publishing industry discount rates. Email us for more information on the price schedule. We'll need a Federal Tax ID number (EIN), and you can apply for net 30 day credit. We don't care how tiny your online, mail order or brick and mortar business is, it just has to be a registered business.

Thanks again to everyone who has pre-ordered books. We don't want to run out of the first press run!

We don't at this time -- can you recommend any larger renewable energy dealers in the UK that carry books? We'll be sure to contact them about our book. I agree, this would be FAR the best way--it's not very expensive for us to ship a carton of books over there by the slow boat, and would be a great savings on shipping for all of our UK customers. Thanks -- let me know if you have any ideas for dealers.

hope im not saying sumthing wrong .BUT.

do you think hugh could advertise your book.

i know its sumthing to talk about but another thing to do.

hugh has loads of your stuff on his site. as you have also got lots of things

  from his.

yes a large carton bye slow boat sounds good.

maybe a large carton of magnets and copper wire even better.
