Anemometer to measure turbulence
« on: January 05, 2006, 02:15:20 PM »
Hi ~  I just read the article "Home made Easter Egg anemometer". Thanks for that.

I'm wondering if anyone has used a cup anemometer to measure urban wind turbulence on building rooftops.  The article "Optimal Filtering of AC Output Anemometers" talks about building an electronic circuit that filters the output of an AC output cup anemometer so that it will accurately register low-frequency turbulence. This was written to address wind turbine site-survey requirements.

I would like to do such urban rooftop wind characteristic logging, but I am a student with a low budget. I've heard such measurements can be made using a weather balloon with a long ribbon tied to it, but set-and-forget is more applicable right now.

I'm in Toronto, Canada

Cheers,    JpWarren
