Well this depends on the Dan's

I was busy making sure on memory, not bandwidth. I can tell you its needed higher now than the last time we paid for hosting (jan 5)

We have enough storage, but not bandwidth any longer.

I have been trying to hand off DanF to the hosting/developer-guy for sometime...

Just give it sometime and they will increase bandwidth...

Ok its time for a forum maintenance. I always get nervous about this (worry it could break the forum) so if you get logged out don't worry that's normal when the maint is performed. No one should have a problem logging back in. Will post when the maint is done.

Oh ya I want to thank Flavio our SMF expert from Italy. Who made the transition to our latest host. He is on standby when we do any work on the forum.

Ive noticed the forum is running slower than usual or something. We need to potion DanF and ask to increase bandwidth of the forum here.

Ive done all I can on this end,

For some reason Danf saw this and attempted to change servers, I was upset when Dan started something, that I cant fix,

The last time I helped but the old server was shut down. Thank goodness re were able recover the whole forum.

I pm'd Dan today and suggested we start a Poll from the regular/all to see if the user's agree that we need extra bandwidth.

At one point I was having long loading issues. I later found it was my computer. I left that post there and there were no one having issues.

DanF scared the hell out of me, when ever your dealing with changing the server it can be a real disaster. I was taken aback as I got on the forum and this was taking place.

For one you simply ask your host to increase bandwidth and it has nothing to do with the server its self.

I hope DanF is not to mad at me, but I have spent a lot of time maintaining the forum.

Anyway this confirms my suspicions  Mary B

for the most part i have always had access to this forum through above average internet service, and it has always been slower than other forums which have millions of people using them..(so they have a lot more money to pay for servers)

but it has never been too slow (in the last 7 years iirc) to the point that i would think about complaining about it.

Sorry about that JW, I didn't realize there were code hacks that wouldn't migrate.

The issue I am trying to resolve is too many servers, trying to consolidate onto one hot server and a hot IP to save money.

We'll still be migrating it, but I'll warn all y'all well in advance. Working on a virtual build so the migration will not be noticeable.

Thanks for all your help keeping this place running, folks!

The only one who can make the forum merge is Flavio from Italy .

lets run this past him, we just have to be very careful. we don't want a fractured forum. The way the forum has been set up, and its possible that the merge will be un advantage.

DanF PM me as you begin your process
