Watt's Up meter
« on: October 12, 2011, 01:21:01 PM »
My Watt's Up meter displays this:
################          ( ......well they aren't pound signs they're black rectangles)
################
instead of watts and volts n' stuff like it's
suppose to when I hook it up ....about 10 months past the
year warranty....any place fix these or do you just toss them ? :(

At that rate it cost me about $3 a month... ::)

Anyone else have this problem with theirs or just my usual run of luck?

Having fun in Conneaut...except for this !   :D

Mine is doing something similar. Its only affected a few on the left at this point but bad enough to not be able to read those images.

Sometimes I can see through to the digit , sometimes not.

No idea if it can be fixed easily.

Mine looks like that looking at it with my polarized prescription sun glasses on. As do many flat type screen displays. Probably not what you have. I always like to power down flakey devices for a few hours then reconnect to make sure it is not some weird symptom of a spike or other electrical glitch.

Its cheap and often ineffective.  ???

This has happened about a week ago I use it on my Pedgen.....lucikily I
also have a digital 7 function speedometer hooked up to the pedgen so I know
at a speed of 3.3 mph (small 12 inch dia. wheel) that I get 1 watt hr. every 2
minutes when charging a 12 volt battery.....and it shows actual time pedaling.
I guess it's pretty accurate enough.....I feel just as tired when pedaling for 100 min.
and equivalent of about 5 miles, as I do when it shows 50 watt/hrs.

Still doing research on my 14.4 v cordless drill batteries and the double stuff ones do
last a lot longer than the singles....Duh !    ::)
Norm.

Hey thanks for the suggestion Tom.
(back to the pedgen.....couple a miles more to go....)

Do those meters have a Brightness or Contrast adjustment ?

Mine does not.
BUT it's the Version 2

In the meantime as far as pedaling I've figured out that the digital bike meter works out
with the 12 inch wheel at .1mile is is just about eqivalent to 1 watt/hr. with the ratios of the
alternator. the only problem will be if I change setup.

Bruce, I'm gradually learning how to make those Paks.....for the pllastic tubes a strip
glues on very nicely with super glue ....lining the edge up like a flap appling the glue very
carefully on the edge with a toothpick only takes about a  minute for the seam to set
up once it makes contact and it's just like welded.... I get a little over zealous with the
heat when it comes to shrinking  tho' when I get to the edges and shrinks out of shape...
but starting to get the hang of it now....
