Air-X Mppt controller operating a dc turbine
« on: May 22, 2015, 09:29:59 AM »
I have a air x wind turbine controller that came out of an air-x 303 turbine that i want to use on my dc ametek 30volt turbine. The only problem is that the air x controller only allow 3 phase ac input while the ametek produces dc voltage. How can i connect it to the ametek without causing any issues? Is it possible to connect it right at the dc connections of the rectifier? If that's the way to go will the controller work perfectly in regulating the turbine and implementing the braking ability even thou is dc fed to the controller and not ac volts?

I wouldn't try it. Amteks and other commutator motors are not suited to long term short circuit braking. The Air X alternator is not bothered by such things. Apart from this issue I am not sure how much of the control circuit will be compatible, never having seen a circuit diagram.
