umnn - misleading statement(s) in that *puff piece* media release...

That efficiency may be a record for Helsinki University of Technology's in-house foundry but there are commercial off-the-shelf panels available with 21.5% solar module efficiency, not just single wafer...

http://sunelec.com/datasheet-library/download/sun/ds-e20-series-327-residential-solar-panels-datasheet.pdf <--- 20.4% module efficiency, 74¢ USD per watt for four panels or 64¢ USD per watt for pallet of twenty panels through sunelec.com

Another thin film wonder cell that will either have a short life span or never pan out...

Hi

There was a thing on UK TV a year or so ago, solar panels that look like roof slates. They were going to revolutionise the building industry and every house would produce all the power it needs......

Never heard or seen anything about them since.
