micro inverter question
« on: April 29, 2016, 04:48:41 PM »
I've been reading the Enphase install manual and it states "WARNING: The M250 can be paired only with a 60-cell PV module."  Is there a reason I could not string 3 panels in series as long as the electrical input requirements of the inverter are met? (48V and 15amps) The reason I ask is I have an inexpensive source for 85w panels.
Thanks for your insight.

60 cells give a maximum voltage for the inverter to work from. If you hooked it up to a 72 cell panel (which are becoming more common)
you will damage the inverter on a cold day.

I had a 50v limit MPPT. Same issue. I had to be careful stringing panels to keep the Voc under 50v on a cold day.
