Water pumping from spring cistern up 100ft to tank - What pump?

(1/2) > >>

thane:
My configuration...

- Inlet is 20ft downhill from surface of cistern (pond that recharges 7000 gallons per day)

- Water will be filtered clear ahead of pump

- Pipe will be 700ft long with a lift of 100ft

- 2 to 3 GPM will be plenty for solar window

- PV panels will be 80ft away from pump (I have plenty of big wire up to 1/0)

I was thinking of using the Dankoff 1303-12v or 24v... is this a good choice?

If I oversize the PV, can I go direct DC to the pump without a controller?

Thanks!
Thane

Do you need a solar pump at all; could what you need be done with a ram pump?

With 100 feet of lift you might do better with 2 pumps in series and a storage tank with a float switch in the middle.

You need one of these, they have speed control as well to stay down in  the 3gpm. 3ph brushless and helical screw so water particles of no interest.... and 80meter lift (240 feet and more).

I think that is a Canadian company too.

We use these everywhere now, no longer build our own for this higher pressure scenario. ( we use a few at 110psi 35lpm... bigger brother )

I use a pump from Sun Pumps:

Love it. Installed one at a friends who has about 400' of run and 70' of lift and it works great.
