Here's what I'm looking at...opinions?
« on: March 14, 2017, 06:36:18 AM »
I'm looking at Air40 HAWT's, I may be able to get a few from an acquaintance, used, possibly damaged slightly. I'm wondering if they are worth anything? If they actually work, what's a used one worth? They are like everything else he has 24VDC.

Next are charge controllers. TriStar TS-MPPT45

And also SS-MPPT-15L
http://www.morningstarcorp.com/products/sunsaver-mppt/

Opinions on these? What might be a better choice, and for the buck?

The next are batteries? What a decent brand ect? here's what may be available to me. Links or pricing info would be great.

MPPT 45 is a good charge controller. I run a pair of them in parallel.

I'm a big fan of my SS-MPPT-15L which has given me many years of reliable service.

Did you folks build your own system? What batteries are you using? What voltage and wattage panels or input power are you using? Wiring details? Inverters, full sine wave or Modified?

I run 12 volt panels connected in series so I have ~80 volts coming in to the charge controller. 2,400 watts of panels with 1200 watts per charge controller feeding a 928 amp hour 24 volt lead acid battery bank(16 six volt batteries with 4 in series then 4 banks in parallel). I run 2 1,000 watt pure sine inverters from Samlex that feed my fridge, freezer, and computer system.

My system is here:

A few 12V nominal panels in parallel through a cheap PWM controller, and >500Wp of 60-cell/30V panels via my SS-MPPT-15L.

12V battery bank, now on its way out!
