motor diode question

Hello. I won this motor on ebay permanent magnet 24 volts 18 amps. Not a powerhouse limited duty cycle . It hasnt showed up yet. i want to charge a 12 volt battery bank. Whay kind of and where can i get a diode to keep this motor from motoring once hooked up to the batterys. The ebay number is 2523960528. Thanks A Lot.JB. man its been windy here for the last month

A plain jane 35 amp 300V diode should do the trick - I believe we are out of stock on them right now, but they are available widely -- electronics stores, mail/web order (all electronics, MECI, tech america, etc.) and I think Radioshack can still special order them thru Tech America. Cheers DANF
