This makes cold fusion look like a drop in the bucket.

According to this story, a simple setup of electrodes in water mixed with potash will produce a lot more energy than you put into it.

Anyone got some potash and want to let us know if it really works ? It could make electric heating with RE a viable option if it does.

potash power !

Wyoming is supposedly the world's leading producer. & I'm up to my armpits in it as we speak, digging foundations in soil so alkali it's WHITE. It makes a kickin' hair mousse when mixed w/ sweat.

But I'm not convinced it makes energy. Always always beware any scientist that submits results to the media before submitting them to full peer review. That's what got Pons & Fleishman in hot water. Or cold water, as it turned out. They held a press conference before they checked their math. This potash experiment has been reproduced by an outside party, but that party used the same apparatus and measuring devices, AFAIK. Let's see it reproduced in four separate labs under more controlled conditions; and then, the real test for any hypothesis, let's see the net energy gain replicated using a alternate experimental setup. If it's a scientific principle, esp. one this accessible, there should be several ways to make the potash behave exothermically.

Hoping it's true, but I suspect it won't prove out. Hard to imagine there's some fundamental form of energy in bunging a spark thru alkali & water *and no one ever noticed it before.* If it does hold, YT is in business! When the winters get bitter, I'll not walk to the woodpile, nosir. I'll pry a shovel fulla dirt out of the ground, toss it in a barrel of water, and hook up the wind turbine jumpers. Hot tub party!
