Gasoline to propane engine conversion

Got my gasoline back up generator running on propane Sunday  : )

The generator is a 5500 watter with a 10 HP Briggs
The kit came from www.propane-generators.com
You have an engine they have a kit to fit it : )

Its  a duel fuel adaptor and I can run gasoline or propane.
the adaptor fits between the carb and the air filter

Here is the adaptor showing the blocking  valve
Thats sets the max gas flow to the engine.

The  demand regulator that came with the kit is good for engines up to 60 HP It uses engine vacuum to regulate gas flow
This why the blocking valve is needed for smaller engines.

Here is the vacuum hose at the bottom of the carb below the throttle linkages  going to the demand regulator.
All I had to do was drill the spacer block and install the hose fitting every thing else just bolts on.
If this carb had a idle mixture screw all I would have had to do
was take it out an screw in the hose fitting.
It is just that easy and it starts and run just like it did on
gasoline.

I like the idea of easy cold weather starting   and a cleaner running engine
And propane will not go stale like gasoline when stored.
I am thinking of converting my  snow blower next

Have so much fun it should be illegal : )

So do you actually use the old gasoline carb and just add this thing in the middle?

Yes  the gasoline carb stays just as it is and were it is .
This way if I run out of propane all I have to do is open the valve on the gasoline tank and I am up and running again.
The kit makes it real easy. Check out the site

There is  a lot of good info and pics.
