When your magnet collection on the refrigerator weighs more than the refrigerator.
Electric motor re builders are coming to you for spare parts and wire.

your yard makes airplane pilots nervous, you buy wire straight from the manufacture, nasa stops by to see all the neat things that they thought were never possible, local law inforcement stops to ask if they can rent some space on one of your tallest towers to mount a repeater, the sun at your house is the only place where it blinks (ie. blades turning), you have dreams that you are the wind genny, your magnet collection is dirupting the magnetic poles of the earth (kinda acts like the bramuda triangle) Ok I will stop now this is just too funny!!!!

When you have 10 pounds of every wire size from #0000 to #48 but you're worried it's not enough.
When you've built more alternators then Delco that just fall short of your expectations but you know the next one will be perfect.
Oh! It get ugly around here at times.

That one resonates with me.

One day last summer while I was driving the 20 miles out to my father's place, I counted the number of utility poles in the first 2 miles and averaged it out for the complete distance... I figured upwards of a megawatt with a small genny on each pole.

This comes around the time you hear then see a jet blasting hardly over your mills

And you still call the FAA to complain!!

live world wide than the CIA and NSA.

All your friends want you to help/build them a wind genny.

All your friends offer you stuff b4 they throw it away, just in case you could use it.

You start to get paranoid that politicians will want to tax the energy
you get from the wind.

(see current political news about electric powered cars)

The mills you build for friends are the only ones that stay up very long.

The machines you build for friends are more powerfull than yours cause yours are experimenting with trying to make it cheaper.

When you spend several hours building and testing a device that is 6"X6"X1/4" and feel great satisfaction and sence of accomplishment when it will light an LED and develops the same energy as a watch battery. :)

when you break the belt on your dryer. You go to get the new belt, and on the way the only thing thats going through your mind is "Hum I wonder how many microwaves there might be laying around that you can get" you get back home with all your new toys and the misses gives you the death stare, but hey you had to get the belt. "SAVED BY THE BELT" lol :o)

You've accepted that this hobby has stolen your husband when:

He stands outside in sideways rain gleefully holding a wind speed indicator

You never want to ask "what are you doing?" when you haven't set aside time for the full answer that you know is coming

Your kitchen table will never see plates of food again

You don't find it unusual that his fingers are stuck between two magnetized brake rotors and he needs your help

You know that trash is subject to inspection... your's, your family's...

Your parents round up all the tools he will need to disassemble their broken microwave and they know he is not going to be fixing it

You now know that there is a nearby refuse recycle plant that gives stuff away for free
