Homebrewed power, Apple Powerbook

Anybody ever power an Apple Powerbook and LCD Cinema Display using homebrewed power.

Seems to me both are capable of being powered using their tranformers.. why not use  DC source instead of using an inverter. More efficient, right.

Ideas/experiences, even off the shelf solutions are desired.

Thanks.

(User Info)

How do you want to do it?
What are the specs for the machine? (LCD is a good low power item)
It's been done many many times.
